ACC's New Direction

Although initiatives leading to the creation of the Athletic Community Centres started in 2008, the ACC has only recently become a Non-Profit Organization.  As the ACC evolved, so has its mission:  “Help Canadian’s Be Healthy”.

This mission is in line with a growing “need” in Canada as alarming statistics show that Canadians are less healthy on average than we have ever been.

Right now, the ACC is a few trainers and administrators working in 2 facilities out of 2 communities.

  • The facilities can be considered as strength and conditioning rooms for athletes, multi-functional training rooms for developing athleticism in children and youth, exercise room for adults and seniors wanting to be fit.
  • The 2 communities at present the Citizens of Dorval, and the students and staff members of John Rennie High School.

The ACC has joined the "Canadian Sport For Life Movement" and the "Participaction Network" which will help us deliver better services and information to our partner communities to realize our goal.

Look for more to come soon.

We are ready to receive your team(s)

Dear Coaches,

The Athletic Community Centres (ACC) is proud to announce the opening of a new multi-purpose athletic development and training centre operating out of the Westwood Sports Centre (Arena) in Dorval.    The ACC would like to work in collaboration with various Dorval sports teams in order to provide the following services to its members:

  • Age and gender specific strength and conditioning programs to supplement the sports season
  • Teaching progressive fundamental movement skills with proper technique and execution
  • Developing speed, strength, and other biomotor abilities in order to enhance performance

The ACC will work with each team and help build a plan that is well suited for its goals and level. When it comes to the younger athletes, we follow a Long Term Athletic Development training plan in order to make training in subsequent years consistent and progressive.  Depending on age and experience, our sessions go from being educative and fun to dynamic and very intense.  Please see the services section on our website at www.accsports.ca

What is ACC

The Athletic Community Centres (ACC) is a non-profit organization which provides knowledge and services related to the fitness and strength and conditioning industry to various communities.

The ACC collaborates with municipalities, schools, organizations, and businesses, in order to help Canadians improve their overall health and athleticism through sustainable, collaborative, and innovative Athletic Training Programs.

The ACC's goals are in line with and supports the Canadian Sports For Life movement, it's Long Term Athlete Development Model, and other organizations such as Participaction

Athletic Training consists mainly of working on abilities that include balance, coordination, flexibility, strength, endurance, and speed in as many ways as possible.  At the early stages, this means to develop Physical Litteracy, and later on it would mean to enhance or maintain the abilities above.

All these enhance sports but are fundamental to enjoying an active and healthy lifestyle for the categories below:

·         Children

·         Youth

·         Sport performance (age of specialization)

·         Adults and aging athletes

·         Seniors

·         Physically inactive

·         Overweight/obese individuals

·         Special needs populations

We are here for you

Although we are a relatively young organization, the ACC is providing services and resources to a few communities.  If you would like more information on how you can get involed, please contact David Arsenault at 514-694-5934, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
